Penny is an actor/singer, teacher, writer, and director. Her performance credits include cabaret, cruise ships, theatre, film & tv, and corporate functions, for companies as diverse as Opera Queensland, 4MBS, Queensland Symphony Orchestra, JOYMAS Creative, Warehaus, Oscar, Harvest Rain, MadCat, Vavachi Entertainment, Ginnivan Attractions, Don Featherstone Productions, RyPe Films, and P&O.
As a director, her recent credits include Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Elegies for Angels, Punks & Raging Queens, Working! A Musical, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change (all for Performing Arts, QCGU), Songs for Sarah Connor (QPAC/ Melbourne Comedy Festival), Alice in Wonderland (Rapid Fire Productions/ Brisbane Powerhouse), Hangry (2high Festival & YTICC), 30 Year Old Child (Short & Sweet Cabaret Festival), The Frog Prince, Cinderella, The Night Before Christmas (Fame Theatre Co.), Little Shop of Horrors (Redcliff Cultural Centre). Penny has been Resident Director onboard ships and AD on Richard III (4MBS Shakespeare in the Park).
As a writer, Penny has penned versions of The Frog Prince, two different versions of Alice in Wonderland, The (New) Adventures of Captain Senses and The Night Before Christmas, and an historic play based on The Battle of Hastings – 1066 (co-written with Paul Adams).
As a teacher, Penny has been a guest teacher for La Boite Summer School, Shake & Stir (artist in residence), Ben Parkinson Casting, Fame Theatre and currently teaches for Queensland Conservatorium (Performing Arts). She has been a member of Actors’ Equity (MEAA) for over 20 years, is on Equity Branch Council and the committee of the Actors’ and Entertainers’ Benevolent Fund (Qld).
