HOW TO APPLY
Complete and return the Application Booklet together with the required documentation for our Major Audition Dates as soon as possible and no later than 27th September, 2017. Upon receipt, more information will be sent to you. If auditioning in private please scan and send documents to the ADPI office and bring the originals with you to your audition.
If students are unable to travel to Brisbane for an audition, they may submit a DVD application.
HOW TO AUDITION
Audition In Person
Our Major Audition Date for entry in 2018 is Monday 2nd October, 2017 which you are encouraged to attend; alternately a private audition can be arranged at the Australian Dance Performance Institute studios.
Auditions will consist of:
- Classical Ballet Class – Pointe optional for females
- Contemporary Class
- Jazz Class
- Interview – parents encouraged to be in attendance
Audition by DVD
- A verbal introduction by the applicant stating what their aspirations for the future are and why he/she would like to be accepted into the course at ADPI
- A Solo/s of any genre (Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Song, Monologue)
Private Auditions will be subject to places being available, will be held up to January, 2018
DVD auditions must be received by Monday 6th November, 2017. Results of auditions (in person or by DVD) are normally sent out within 10 working days.
SELECTION
Our Audition Panel will be assessing candidates in all genres for:
- Technique and Artistry
- Potential
- Physicality
- Strength and Flexibility
- Musicality
- Performance
- Achievements to Date
- Commitment and Literacy
FULL-TIME STUDY

Upon receipt, more information will be sent to you. If auditioning in private please scan and email documents to the office and bring the originals with you to your audition.
Students may be accepted on completion of Year 9 Schooling (Queensland) for the Year 10 Program, or on completion of Year 10, its equivalent or 15 years of age and over for the Diplomas.
In addition, students from a non-English speaking background (English as a Second Language) should have achieved the following levels in the oral/aural components of ESL proficiency:
- ISLPR – International Second Language Proficiency Grading Scale 2+ to 3 (with no score less than 2)
- IELTS – International English Language Testing System (Preferably Module C) – Band 5.5 (with no score less than 5)
- 530 – Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
- OR achieve these levels before entering units requiring this level of English language application: For example, those units covering legal requirements, history, communication
Mature age students without the minimum educational requirements, who demonstrate through interview and audition, the maturity and motivation to succeed in the course, may be granted special entry at the discretion of the Director.
Special consideration may be given to students with advanced academic standing at an earlier age, or who have obtained appropriate consent to complete compulsory schooling through Distance Education or Home Schooling, and/or those with limited training who show exceptional potential.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS are welcome to apply as ADPI holds CRICOS (01600A) registration.
International applicants require an audition (in person or DVD), a Student Visa, Health Insurance and an IELTS
5.5 or equivalent in English language skills before entering selected theory subjects.
Students from New Zealand do not require a Student Visa and therefore are not subjected to the course fees payable by other International students.
If students are unable to travel to Brisbane for an audition, they may submit a DVD application or upload to YouTube.

Please submit your applications no later than 27th September, 2017.
Auditions for the Classical and Contemporary Dance specialisation consist of:
- Classical Ballet Class – females will require pointe shoes
- Contemporary Class
- Jazz Class
- Interview – parents/guardians recommended to attend
Auditions for the Musical Theatre and Commercial Dance specialisation consist of:
- Contemporary Class
- Tap Class
- Jazz Class
- Monologue (chosen from the enclosed list)
- Song – preferably from a Musical (please bring music on CD/iPod/phone, with no vocals, on the day)
- Interview – parents recommended
Audition by DVD
Must be received no later than 15th November, 2017
If applying for the Classical and Contemporary Dance Specialisation:
- A verbal introduction by the applicant stating what their aspirations for the future are and why he/she would like to be accepted into the course at ADPI
- Class (10 – 15 mins) covering Barre, Adage, Pirouettes, Allegro with batterie
- A Classical Solo (females en pointe)
- A Solo of a different genre (Contemporary, Jazz, Neo)
If applying for the Musical Theatre and Commercial Dance Specialisation:
- A verbal introduction by the applicant stating what their aspirations for the future in this genre are and why he/she would like to be accepted into the course at ADPI
- A song, preferably from a Musical
- A monologue chosen from the enclosed list
- A Jazz Solo
- A Tap Solo or a solo of another genre
Private Auditions, subject to places being available, in January, 2018

SCHOLARSHIPS
At the discretion of the Director, a scholarship may be given to talented, committed and gifted students who enter their second year of study at ADPI. If scholarships are awarded the amount is calculated on the individual need of the student.
OTHER
Students who have not completed their studies to Year 12 English and/or Maths are encouraged to do so.
Options for continuing studies include Distance Education or Home Schooling. Contact information for both
